Dear 2021 Confirmation Candidates and families,
Welcome to Confirmation 2021! We have some news to share with all of you. On May 6th, 2020, Bishop Fabbro announced that St. John the Divine and St. George Parishes would become a “family of parishes.” As part of our “new beginning” as a family, we have decided that Confirmation preparation would be our first shared ministry. We have created a website called buildingfamily.ca which will host all the information regarding our transition to becoming a family as well as all the Confirmation registration and formation sessions.
With all of the formation being held online this year, we have combined our efforts to create ONE online program for the families of both parishes. Preparation will be offered in two rounds of 8-week online Masterclass sessions. You will be able to choose which round works best for your family. The 8-week sessions will cover various topics of faith and will include a video reflection, scripture quotes, reflection questions and other resources for candidates, parents and sponsors.
***Parents and candidates will go through each weekly session of materials on their own and then participate in one of the three online group discussion sessions each week.
Round #1 January 18th – March 12th 2021
Round #2 March 22 – May 13th 2021
Each weekly session will be sent out on Saturday afternoon and then be followed by online group discussions held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 pm or Saturday morning from 10:00 -11:00 am. You only attend ONE online discussion each week. You will not need to register for the discussion groups but you must attend one of them. We are offering three times during the week in order to allow for more flexibility with family schedules. Links to the online gatherings will be sent out each week. You will be able to either connect via MS TEAMS (with your computer, tablet or smartphone) or call in by phone.
The celebrations of the sacrament will take place at St. John the Divine and St. George. Further details and registration for celebrations will be sent out soon.
